Deep Night Season 11: Allison Huntington Chase

Dale scares himself just a little, as he contemplates Ouija demons and the ghosts of the Gowanus during this seasonally-appropriate conversation with Allison Huntington Chase. The creator of Madame Morbid’s Trolley Tours in Brooklyn, Allison explains that her family has a long history with terrifying spectacles. Her father oversaw the production of elaborate, bone-chilling Halloween experiences for the fine folks back in Hartford, CT. Allison’s upbringing among boxes of body parts in the hall and refrigerators full of fake blood is at least partly responsible for her drive to start her own business of site-specific spookiness. She and Dale discuss what it feels like when a ghost sits in your lap at a hotel, unsung women in New York history, and the enduring fascination with those who have crossed over. Plus Dale thinks it’s perfectly ok if you’re a grown up person who is sad and wants to wear a costume to get away from it all. What’s the harm?
