Dale starts the new year searching for a little light in the darkness, and he finds it in this conversation with British comedian and actor, Tiff Stevenson. In New York to present her acclaimed one-person show Mother, Tiff drops into the Deep Night studios for a wide ranging chat about comedy and the state of the world. The two discuss specific hurdles for comedians in the UK, naughty fruit markets of Scotland, and the challenges of being a stepmother. Tiff’s latest show tackles motherhood, feminism, and fights back against the evil-stepmother tropes that the Brothers Grimm were so fond of. The two also talk about Tiff’s experience producing hit shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and how she hones new material. Now she’s got Dale’s thinking about putting something together for folks in a drippy basement! Plus speaking of drippy, Galinda’s got Dale in a tight, but warm, spot financially.
Tiff’s show, Mother at Union Hall on January 10th at 7:30pm Tix: https://www.unionhallny.com/e/tiff-stevenson-mother-79756246079/. Then Tiff takes the show out to San Francisco for SF Sketchfest.
