Deep Night Season 14: Janet Varney

Dale decides he has one too many collector’s items on his online auction wishlist, so he puts in a call to actor, comedian, and voice over talent Janet Varney, for a little advice in dealing with stuff. Janet and Dale are both only children moving through the recent loss of a parent and they discuss what it’s been like to slowly extract childhood memories from storage units, catch glimpses of their parents in their own reflections, and some of the unexpected tasks one is responsible for when there’s no one else around. Plus despite Dale knowing Janet for many years, he’s curious to learn about her path in comedy, how she got her start in San Francisco, and her part in co-founding the greatest comedy festival ever, SF Sketchfest. Janet also talks about the importance of her role as the voice behind a major animated character while Dale reminisces about some very creaky comic book conventions in the 1980s and reveals a passion for wizard soaps.
